How to Increase Your Quote Conversion Rate by 30%

Your close rate isn't fixed. Here are five levers that consistently move quote conversion 20–30% for contractors.

A typical home services shop closes between 25% and 40% of estimates. The top quartile closes north of 55%. The difference isn't usually price — it's process. Here are the five biggest levers.

1. Speed beats polish

Get the written estimate out within 24 hours of the site visit. Conversion drops sharply after 48 hours and falls off a cliff after a week.

2. Build a follow-up cadence

A single follow-up touch is worth 5–10 percentage points of close rate. Three to four touches is the sweet spot before diminishing returns. See our follow-up cadence guide for the exact schedule.

3. Anchor with options

Present good / better / best instead of a single number. Customers anchor to the middle tier and stop comparison-shopping on price alone.

4. Make trust legible

Insurance, license number, warranty terms, and 2–3 recent reviews on the estimate itself. You're not just selling work, you're selling "this won't be a disaster."

5. Track and learn

Tag every lost estimate with a reason — price, timing, went silent, chose competitor. After 90 days you'll see your real bottleneck.

The compound effect

Stack three of these and you'll see 20–30% lift inside a quarter. Automating the follow-up piece alone — what NudgeQuote does for Jobber shops — typically recovers 10–15% of revenue that was already won, just not collected.
